I was working in the shop this afternoon and my girlfriend called me in to
watch a TV program on RTV (retro TV network). It was an episode of It Takes
A Thief and she sighted two Sunbeam Alpines in it.
>From what I saw (joining the show in progress) there was a red Series 5
with wire wheels and a large (typical) gap from the top of the front tire to
the fender (common to Series 5's alone) and an early Series Alpine, I base on
seeing white-needled gauges on its dashboard.
The red car appears briefly at the beginning of the show: later, the early
Alpine with a Japanese woman driving 'chases' the late series car with
Alexander Mundy driving for about 6-7 minutes, mid-show. Oddly, the early car
doesn't arrive at the end of the 'persuit' until several minutes after the
late car arrives. Here is the episode synopsis and other details.

Season 2, Episode 9: A Case of Red Turnips
26 November 1968
Mundy is ordered to attend a foreign film festival and steal the only copy
of an avant-garde motion picture. The movie's director accidentally filmed
eleven American spies making a drop at a location behind the Iron Curtain and
if the film is premiered the agents will all soon be captured or dead.
