Out of curiosity, I checked with Repco for the Australian availability of
Hillman/Alpine shocks.  They still list a front shock but it is not held in 
stock
- it's a special order from Monroe.  Its oil filled and is priced at Aus$68.00
each!  That would make it worthwhile for Aussie listers to order the shocks that
Jan found from America.
