Allison is a great engine, but should you prefer British makes? Try to find a Bristol Centaurus (18 cyl 2-row sleeve valve radial, 2526 hp) or a Napier Sabre II (24 cyl flat H-engine, also with sleeve valves and 2340 hp output). As the engine bay in our Alpines is so roomy, you have only to find a really horny shoehorn and slip new power plant in. BTW you must leave the original Rootes engine in too, it is needed to run fuel pump. Moral of these stories? Not included in delivery. Larry |
