gas tanks

I just cleaned and sealed my tanks with POR-15. I have
a severely crushed curved balance pipe and need to
know if anyone has just by-passed these curved balance
pipes by just using fuel line? Any reason this should
not be done? It would certainly cut down on the amount
of connections and clamps to tighten.
