Hi all,
Just speaking with Jeff Dellow and he has said there is a short delay in
fulfilling orders as he has realised the Alpine has a special machined bolt
used at the 2oclock position on the right side and a insitu locating pin on
the left side of the block. These two locaters are designed to align the
engine and gearbox exactly before the rest of the bolts are used to connect
the two units. Jeff has had no luck obtaining one of the special bolts so is
looking at making a seperate pin or machined bolt to allow exact location of
the new bellhousing. The last thing they want is to have premature clutch
failure because the housing was installed 1 or 2thou out of alignment.
I wonder how many owners have not used the special locating bolt in their
rebuilds?
He said he will respond to my latest enquiry regarding local purchase/supply
of clutch plates, pressure plates and release bearings for US buyers. I have
also asked for a pattern to mount the rear of the Toyota box to the sunbeam
rear crossmember.
