Recent comments about Hillman Hunters still being manufactured in Iran are
correct. The following item is a copy from this months Practical Classics mag,
a british publication. The extract reads
"Iran remains faithful to its Rootes"
"The IRANIAN factory that still produces 30,000 Hillman Hunter-based Peykan
cars every year is being re-tooled ro produce even more! Scottish firm A1
Welders has won part of a contract to re-tool the plant."
"Run by the aptly named John Hunter, A1 Welders will be supplying automatic
welding equipment that will take Hunter/Peykan production well into the 21st
century. Even Peykan's new model, a car derived from the Peugeot 405, does not
seem able to topple the humble old Hunter from its position as the Iranian
people's car."
Has anyone contacts that could possibly source "new 1725" engines or other
parts such as diff's etc from this Iranian company retooling to continue
Rootes production ?
Just a thought
