Hi Gang I have wasted most of the day trying to determine why my new
LU142A is so much different than the LU142 that I have on four other cars.
The LU142 module comes pre mounted on a plate that is held down by one
screw that previously mounted the condenser.
The LU142A is a two-piece design, a mounting plate and a separate module.
The mounting plate mounts, using two existing holes in the contact breaker
plate. The module is then secured to two studs on the plate using a couple
of nuts.
This is what I have determined. In an effort to standardize their module,
they re-designed the mounting plate to accommodate it .I have found that THE
MOUNTING STUDS ARE TOO FAR CLOCKWISE (about < ). If they want to fix this
problem (and still use two screws to mount the plate) they will have to re
design the mounting plate or maybe go back to the old mounting. I would not
buy a LU142A kit until this problem is resolved.
