Dan,
I had that problem when I took on the same dash project several years back. I
ended up splicing two sheets together and made the seam on center of the oil
pressure gauge hole. By the time it was completed, the seam wasn't even
noticeable. All that behind me, I would rather spend the $$ and buy the dash
from Rick or Curt. For what my time is worth and the quality of the repro dash,
it's money well spent. My humble opinion. - Ian

Hello everyone!
Well, rather then spend $200 - $300 on a new dashboard for my series 3,
I thought that I would build a new one (I am probably more capable of
work working than metalworking). I am having a difficult time trying to
find a piece of walnut burl veneer that is large enough for the entire
dash (about 8" x 48"). Most pieces are about 24" long at best. I could
splice it in 2 or 3 sections, but I would rather have one piece. I am
looking for any advise that any of you may have on this subject. Does
anyone have any left from a similar project? I have found a source for
a full sheet of veneer but it would be enough for about 4 dashboards and
quite expensive, is there anyone out there that would like to split the
cost on a larger batch of veneer??
Thanks
