Excellent point. Leave nut on loose or remove dentures before proceeding
to break the bond twix hub and splines.

I would recommend leaving the big nut on (loosened of course) while you
pull on the steering wheel. Sometimes what can happen is you pull hard
and it releases and bam! you get the wheel in the face. Having the nut
on until the splines release is a nice easy way to avoid a black eye or
worse.
