Ok, I have begun the rebuild of my salvaged 1976 TR6. I removed the
complete interior today, and drained the fluids. When I drained the
transmission, I had about 4 quarts of water come out before I even saw any
fluid. The water looked quite clean, however and didn't show any signs of
rusting internals. Once the fluid drained I tried to remove the fill plug,
but to no avail. The best fit seemed to be a 7/16 wrench but it kept
slipping because the plug is in there so tight. Does anyone have any ideas
on removing the plug before I just drill it out? Also, do you think the
water in the tranny will hurt anything. It has been in there for about 5
weeks. Thanks, for your help.
