Hi Vance (and everyone else),

Just to set the record straight - even if you use the proper Churchill
tool, there's a chance that you'll screw up the hub flange or the stub
axle when pressing them apart.

The "correct" way to support the hub flange when in the press is to bolt a
FLAT piece of 1/2" (min) steel to the hab flange with grade 8 bolts
torqued to spec... then rest the plate on the throat of the press and push
on the axle stub. I also like to leave the nut on the axle stub (to
caontain the parts when things seperate).

On any hub that needs "lots" of force, the stub axle end gets little
cracks, but you can sometime "dress" them out with a die grinder.

This really is a job best left to the pros.
