You will want the butterflies fully open when the pedal is fully
depressed.
On my car, that meant that the gas pedal was further off the floor than
a I really
like, but you get used to it.

By the way I had posted recently about an electrical problem that had me
totally baffled. I finally found that I had a short in the dimmer
switch.
