Jim---You are turning the crankshaft bolt the right way. To keep from "turning the engine over" when removing this bolt, you can use a pipe wrench to hold the pulley extension. It can be done without marring the extension, if this is a concern to you. Using an air impact wrench is another way to shock the bolt loose, if you have the tools. Or you can use a flywheel lock, but this requires access to the ring gear. Dick |
