Calvin and Razor Bob---I'm pretty sure that the two in, two out original
stock muffler was mixing the exhaust inside the center. I do know that
my one time replacement muffler from Midas mixed it. I confirmed this
with compressed air, in one pipe, but out both pipes.

Bob---So far as one tail pipe having the exhaust coming out "cool on one
pipe, and warm on the other"....I don't think this could be accomplished
with imbalanced carburetors. All combustion is very hot, so if the
cylinders are firing at all, heat will be produced. Plus, some mixing
takes place in the intake and exhaust manifolds. If you have the two
pipe system, you can probably feel this heat in the two pipes farther
upstream of the muffler. The answer is there somewhere, if you want to
pursue it!
