Thanks to all who respond to my post re the rocker shaft to pedestal
binding. I think the consensus is that I this tight fit is normal and a bit
of heat during re-assembly is in order.
Apparently the reason for not twisting is because "excessive" twisting can
cause galling and, in turn, seize the shaft completely. Fortunately, this
did not happen in my case.
Finally, I decided that the shaft is OK to reuse because it looks like TRF
replaced it when they rebuilt this engine about 5,000 miles ago.
