Peter:
I highly recommend buying a new rocker shaft. Do not do all this work and
then wear in the new rockers to a worn shaft. I had exactly the same
situation excepting about half of my pedestals were quite stuck.

Subject: Pedestal to rocker shaft fit
I am disassembling the rocker assembly on my 250 in preparation for a roller
rocker conversion (from Creative). I have the instructions which caution
that the pedestals should slide off the shaft without twisting. Twisting
should be avoided.
All but one of the pedestals came off with a minimum of twisting (had to do
some twisting as they were too tight to just slide) except one. That one
took the use of an old rocker as a slide hammer to get it off. It was a
tight fit all the way down the shaft.
So my questions are how tight should the pedestal/ rocker shaft fit be and
why should twisting the pedestals off the shaft be avoided?
