Oil underside of bonnet?

Listers,

It's NOT oil . . . it's  coolant!!!   Sometimes I can't tell the
difference without tasting it.  It looks like oil when it's spread out in
a splattering fashion, especially with "Bars Leak" in it.

My water pump is gone and that explains the upfront noise, too.  

I ordered a new one from Moss.  Is there anything I need to be aware of
BEFORE or AFTER I install it?  Yes, I have a gasket.

Moss "Tech Tips" recommends running the car ( with the new pump
installed)  WITHOUT coolant and let it run for about 30 seconds so  the
carbon race can be properly seated.  Some new pumps can leak.  Any advice
here?
