Mike---Recently, and for the first time, I had the pleasure of
rebuilding two different units. (Thanks again, to Berry and Bob) The
only brass or bronze that I saw were two conical spacers at the planet
gears, and two flat spacers at the sun gears. The sun gear replacement
spacers are now fibre.
All four of the original "spacers" in each unit were worn, and somewhat
pitted. How much of this could be contributed to one of these using the
GL5 during the last 100,000 of its 300,000 miles I can't say. (The other
unit had unknown mileage and gear oil)

In short, there's not much bronze in a differential unit to worry about.
If one were to live long enough, I suppose a test could be made by
dropping like bronze parts into both GL4 and GL5, pull a Rip VanWinkle
and see what happened. I for one would not bother to drain out any GL5
that was used in a differential...but when I next purchase gear oil,
I'll get the 4. Just because.
