Thanks to all for the valuable inputs after my posting a few weeks ago.
The 6 suffered a ticking sound under braking and sometimes also from a clunk
under acceleration.
Reason turned out to be a univeral joint of a drive shaft, as suggested by
the list. Under braking the car dives forward, the angle of the
transmission to the wheel hub changes and as a the unwilling U-joint plays
up. This U-joint had completely rusted away internally, no wonder...
Anyway, after lots of persuasion the U-joints got replaced and everything is
back installed. (not a fun job)
We are having some great TR weather here in Belgium (Europe) for the moment
and fortunately I got to enjoy it :-) !
