Used to be called European tire machines. They clamp the
wheel by the outside radius rather than the old hub down the
middle, and the part that actually *stretches* the tire over
the rim *never* touches the rim.
Practically zero chance of scratching the wheel. All
good shops have these types of machines now, they were
not common 20 years ago when most cars had steel wheels
and wheelcovers to hide all the scratches/gouges.
