Richard---As stated by others, air from the coolest source can make a
difference in air density, allowing more fuel to be properly burned. We
must also note that fuel also needs to vaporize, for good driveabiity.
It was no accident that Triumph saw fit to run (hot) water tubing thru
the intake manifold to aid in this process. Even the fuel lines wend
their way thru the engine compartment, picking up heat along the way. 

Owners with performance motors generally don't mind a little balkiness
from cold fuel and air, as their engines spend little time at low rpms.
