Steve: I'm going to partially disassemble and clean-up a pair of SU HS-6s.
Are there any carb parts not to use the methyl hydrate product on? I
understand I already made one booboo by spraying carb cleaner into the
throats of my ZSs. Reportedly will destroy rubber diaphragms.

Our local NAPA does have some good stuff, you just need to be real
careful
with it. It's sold under their brand name but it contains
Methyl-Chloride.
You soak the parts in this stuff and they come out clean. I bought a
gallon
and could have gotten by with the quart can.
Caveats, Use ONLY in a well ventilated area, This is one of the few
things
that will REALLY mess you up. Get a box of disposable gloves and change
them regularly, this stuff even eats the gloves. Add a couple of acid
brushes to scrub with and you're set
I used it on my carbs, they had 5 years of dead/dying gas on them plus
all
of the other gunk. They came out looking brand new.

Powder coating does a great job. It is a bit of effort (I'm unemployed
and
plan to stay that way so time is not a problem). It will give you the

You can also just do the bead blasting and get a clean finish as shown
