My brother explained to me why I should not paint the drums or the inside of
the wheel where it meets the drums. His reasoning is that paint is soft, and
when tightening wheels it will act as a spacer. When driving, in time, it
will loosen and then there will be wear on the studs. Prolonged usage
without constant checking and tightening could be hazardous. I never want to
experience the horror of my rear wheel overtaking me when I am doing 65 down
the highway!
