Thanks to everyone for the feedback. This is a late model carb (model 3771)
and it is a plastic plug with a brass cap that sticks into the bottom of the
carb. A bad o-ring was causing the major leak. I pulled a plug from a spare
carb that I know didn't leak and it seats much tighter and no leak. I'll make
sure I stock up on some orings on my next parts order.
