Tom---80 lb. of running oil pressure is a little high, (and possibly the
result of using an oil cooler at this time of year,) but not necessarily
the reason for oil spill around the valve cover. You might try a new
cap. They're really not supposed to leak. The crankcase vent tube hose
should also be snug enough at the valve cover to keep oil and fumes from
escaping. The hose itself should either be under slight vacuum, or at
least free enough so combustion pressure can't build up and spill out
the valve cover. When everything is under proper 'emission control',
and the engine idling, taking the oil cap off should cause the idle to
change. At least that's the way I remember mine being years ago. If
you're still running with this hose to the carbon canister, check for
blockage here.

There's pros and cons to running a supplementary oil line to the rocker
arm. You ask if there's a way to reduce this supply. If you think this
may be part of the problem of oil trying to 'get out', you can
disconnect or put a pipe cap on the source long enough to see if makes
any difference. (It probably won't.)
