Jim-If you are lucky the problem is a worn synchro ring. The other possibility is a broken 2nd gear bushing which can cause the tran to self destruct. The Moss catalog mentions this problem in the gearbox section, although your car should have the stronger steel bushing used after 1972. Moss suggests removing the top cover and checking 2nd gear for excessive (more than .020") endplay. Berry |
