I use Red Line 10W/ 40 and haven't had any problems. One of their
technical people said to drop a grade from the 20W/ 50 when making the
switch to synthetic. If you believe their promotional material, there are
many benefits to using synthetic; however, I'm not sure if the benefits
outweigh the cost! I belive that the current additives in synthetic oil
have eliminated the oil leak problems which may have arisen in the past.

One thing I've heard which is certain.....break in rebuilt engines with
conventional oil (I've heard as much as up to 5000 miles). I guess that
synthetics are so slippery that the piston rings won't seat correctly.
