I think the list is so quiet in the (UK) winter as most people are not using
their cars every day and so are not having problems -yet. My 2500S is at
the moment working very hard as I'm doing temporary courier work (yes, in
the Triumph) to finance her long awaited engine rebuild. We have purchased
a '73 PI to use whilst the S was off the road and have just collected her
from the bodyshop. But, she is overheating - the water, not the fuel.
We've changed the radiator, water pump, thermostat - twice, and flushed the
system through to no success. The thermostat has now been removed and she
is running cooler, but it doesn't seem like an adequate solution. She is
also making horrible noises sometimes when you start her up. I'm hoping
it's just the starter......
Hopefully, the engine will be completed on the S for the Isle of Wight in
July. The engine will be uprated a bit - PI cam, lightened flywheel. I
would appreciate any info on what's worth doing, what's not, whilst keeping
the mpg around 20.
The S is taking us to EuroDisney again in 3 weeks time, unfortuately, we
need to change the gearbox, diff and carbs before that, so I think we'll be
a bit busy.
Regard Sharon
