Jon, Just a suggestion........

Why don't you try swapping the Stag Alloys for a set of steel Stag Wheels
Surely someone can help in the UK  ( ie Stag owner without Alloys). 
>From memory the 185 HR x 13 Tyres were very thin on the ground 4 years ago
and normally expensive and in lot's of one or two at autojumbles. (often
Michelin XAS )

Jimmy Elliot of Classic and SportsCar Fame uses 195/70 *13 on his PI. These
are
Firestones and were available a couple of years ago. They are HR rated but
are approx 
3-4% smaller in diameter (175*13 size).

They seemed like a good compromise for the higher potential performance of
the PI if you 
want to stay 13"
