I'll drink to that! Can't remember what speed is considered safe for an R
rated tyre.

Takes me back to a 2300 Rover SD1 I had as a company car about 14 years ago.
That was fitted (in error) by Rover with SR rated tyres supplied by Avon and
I had two rears go at about 85mph on the M56. Worked out OK in the end
because Avon inspected the car and said they had only been supplied for
evaluation and not production. I got four free HR replacements and full
re-imbursement for the two replacements I'd had to buy.

Just looked at all my spare wheels and all of them either have R or SR rated
boots. Michael Porter in the States claims that Dunlop are selling an SP
brand for 185/65 or 70. Can anyone confirm?

According to the Triumph 2000 Service Notes,185/70x14 will give the correct
rolling radius and these are Stag sizes. Could solve my problem but it means
I'd have to keep my Stag alloys which came with the car and this is not
really what I wanted to do. Maybe there was method in the DPO's madness?
