I haven't. But I have the Stag discs and calipers, which was an easy
bolt-on change (didn't bother to change the stone guard), and probably a
worthwhile improvement too. Will only fit 14" wheels.

Would the Volvo brakes be an improvement over for instance Stag brakes
(which are not too far off in terms of dimensions)? The Volvo has four
small cylinders to facilitate their twin circuit braking system, but is
that efficiency-wise better than two large cylinders?
Personally, I'd *think* different pad lining material would make more of
a difference.

No.
Again, I'd think the large drum brakes in good order were adequate as rear
brakes?
(Discs look better with open style wheels, I guess. Anyone found a black paint
that works for rear drums?)
At any rate, changing to read discs needs some careful consideration so
as to not upsight braking balance, I'd say.
