I have given up replacing sills since I moved to Oz where sills don't rust
much (it's easier to replace the car sometimes) but I did do the sill on a
1972 2000 which had 2 coversills on top of each other and so much waxoyl
(about two inches deep) that I was able to repair the original sill (only
bad at the front) still protected somehow under all the muck.
Has any one heard of the "Urban Myth" of the Series3 XJ6 in the USA that had
countless warranty visits to cure a rattle in the sill area. Eventually the
sill was cut open to find the fiendish work of a disgruntled late 1970's BL
worker.... Several nails tied on line somehow to rattle constantly with an
attached note saying "So you found me at last !!!"....
Could be true after all they say that they put early TR7's together badly on
purpose at Speke to piss off the management.. This I can believe!!!!
Any ideas on vented discs?
