>Where are we with the Trafficator saga? I've had some
experience
>with these. They are all seem to be the same (without
going into terminal ends, etc.), and were seemingly used in about every
>40's (????), 50's into early 60's Brit car ever made. I
unfortunately got
>mentally ill while at the Beaulieu AutoJumble in 2001,
and bought
>some sets, and had previously bought an NOS set from
MiniMania here
>in the U.S. I paid a fortune for that set from
MiniMania . . . my
>bad, my stupid. Live and Learn, eh? At
Beaulieu, it seemed like every stall you walked up to had some SF80 trafficators
for sale, and many folks had boxes and buckets of parts. If I had only
know more about them, I could have probably done very well . . . or certainly
better than I did!!! I will use the very
>$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
MiniMania set in the Magnette, but do have a
>couple of "extra" sets from
Beaulieu which I could make available.
>
>Yes, the "box" is the
hard(er) part, as the trafficators are easily
>removed from the car for
replacement or repair, but the box tends to
>stay in the car, or
apparently in some cars, is somewhat built
>in. What I did was make
my own. I've since done this for a few
>friends who have Morris
Minors. I can send a sketch if you
>want. You simply need a
narrow piece of sheet metal (about 16 gauge
>or so), a vice for bending,
and a Dremel cool to make a "slot", on
>which the trafficator is
"hung". Trust me, it would take you maybe
>20 minutes to make the
thing.
>
>FWIW,
#2SteveK

Well, the SF-80 information I got from various accounts saying
that was what they bought and installed in their Magnettes. The parts
manual lists part number 138578 for the trafficator and 195600 for the
trafficator box. I don't know how that maps to the SF-80 number.
The manual says 2 per car for each part number. That implies to me that
they are the same left and right.

-Steve T.

At 05:38 PM
