<DIV>you're reminding me of some "stuff" our son, and his then-buddies, did at
their defense contractor jobs. Of course, their project, all hush-hush,
was knee deep in acronyms which would drive any sane person crazy. I
have absolutely no idea what all they came up with (even though he once showed
it to me . . . . long lost), but it apparently slid by all the higher ups, as
standard acronym gobbly gook. They ascribed very <FONT
color=#444444>ethereal </FONT>names to various aspects of their project, and
when you put all the acronyms together, in a row, it said something "not very
nice", shall we say :))) Those SAs (Smart Asses), including our
son, all moved, in various stages, shortly thereafter to non-defense
related careers, which is probably a good thing!</DIV>

can also pull the number plate from the engine and save it to install on an
1800 you'll put in the car. Devious, but it would look right.<BR>

engine in my Magnette was hot-tanked when it was rebuilt in the eighties and
since no one had removed the ID plate, it dissolved. I've always had a
low-priority project to stamp a new plate with a number like BP17GX0002 just
to confuse people. I'd say it was a prototype motor with a flat crank or some

you are interpreting this wrong. I think you are applying <BR
clear=none>the key for decoding the car number to the engine number.
What I <BR clear=none>find for that number is that BP15GC is for the ZA
Magnette, with full <BR clear=none>flow oil filter. I can't confirm the
meaning of the H in that engine <BR clear=none>number, but in the later ones
it meant high compression. I'm getting <BR clear=none>this from Barney's
site, <BR clear=none><A href="http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/engine/be100.htm."

</A> So, I would say that <BR clear=none>this engine can be put in your
Magnette. Whether the condition is <BR clear=none>good enough will be up
to the rebuilder and machine shop. If your <BR clear=none>car was
originally equipped with a 1500 engine, this is your <BR
clear=none>opportunity to go up to a bigger displacement. If your car
was <BR clear=none>already a 1600, you might not want to go down in
size. This all <BR clear=none>depends on how much of an originality guy
