<div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Tim,</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">The current pads may be glazed over; the pins that the pads ride on could be rusty or at least need to be lubed; brake hoses could be old and expanding when the brake pedal is pushed; rotors could also be the problem. And probably a few things I'm not thinking of or that you haven't already corrected.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">So I would at least replace the following:</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Brake pads. I've used the "Green Stuff" and the semi-metallic and I didn't really notice that much of a difference.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Brake pad pins. These are what the brake pads ride on in the calipers. They can cause the pads to hang up if they have any imperfections. They are very inexpensive. Also lube the area of the caliper where the pads slide.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Brake hoses. Replace all four hoses with the ones that have a metal sheath around the outside.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Rotors. Probably haven't been replaced in who knows how many years. They aren't too pricy and worth the money.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Calipers. I listed these because you didn't mention if they have been replaced. If they aren't leaking and you aren't pulling to one side or the other when braking then they are probably ok. I've read positives and negatives about "Green Stuff" style and same with semi-metallic. My Spit requires way too much effort to stop and the rear brakes are adjusted and were replaced along with the master cylinder in 2016. I purchased the car in 2021 and haven't found a receipt for the front pads so no idea if they were replaced at same time.
