Nothing as exciting as what you folks have related. We purchased our 1977
Spitfire at A&L motors and drove it home in a snowstorm on the turnpike.
>From that point on we drove it up and down the Jersey coast, vacationing
and visiting friends. I used as a commuter in Pittsburgh, in Bloomington,
IN, and Louisville, KY, as well as West Virginia. I began a rolling
restoration in the late 1980s. On one trip to Cape May, on the turnpike,
the top was down and we overtook a semi hailing pigs. The smell was
horrible, so I passed him. When he saw Marianne retching, he laughed and
kept pace with us for his entertainment. I sped up and he sped up. Before I
knew, the speedo was approaching 90 mph. I promptly slowed down and let him
get far ahead of us. Cheers!
