I had the speedo in my MGA rebuilt by British Speedo Service in New 
York, a former long-time Nisonger employee.? He walked me through 
gathering the data for re-calibration.? Gauge is spot on and came back 
looking like new.? I had previously bought a new Smith's gauge but it 
failed within miles.? Quick turnaround at British Speedo and pleasant to

Caution! Curves Ahead! by Gary Fredo
On July 20th we will meet at the Sheetz just off the Mount Nebo exit of I79 (1910 Mount Nebo Road, Sewickley Pa 15143) at 10:00 and finish at the Steel City Sports Bar & Grille (3108 New Butler Rd, New Castle Pa 16101) at approximately 2:00. The Driver's Meeting is at 10:15. Their website is steelcitysportsbarandgrille.com. I'm unsure of the seating arrangement as I write this as they didn't want me to make a reservation until we are closer to the event but I'm sure they will be able to accommodate us.
As the name of the event implies, anticipate plenty of curvy roads on the drive. There are several shady areas that we will be driving through so if it ends up being hot, we will have occasional relief from the hot sun. For the most part we will be on lightly traveled country roads with some transition roads to get from one fun country road to another. The route and directions are very similar to the route from 3 years ago and are fairly easy to follow.
With that said, I'm hoping people will step up and lead groups. You won't get lost. I would like to keep the groups to five cars as much as possible. It's safer and easier to keep up with only five cars to a group. But if we end up with larger groups then that is ok also. I've designed this run so there are very few signal lights on the course. There are also minimal left turns onto busy roads and we never directly cross a busy road. This will help to keep everyone together in the groups. I've had a blast driving around these country roads finding nice twisty roads.
So, if you like to drive a little briskly then I think you will really enjoy this run. And if you prefer a leisurely pace then you can put the top down and enjoy the scenery as most of the roads are tree lined with plenty of wildlife roaming about.

 In case anyone wants to meet at the half way point the address of the Sunoco station for our break is 135 Lindsay Road, Zelienople, Pa 16063 which is just South of?Zelienople on Rt 19.
No rain expected on Saturday!!!!? Lucky us.
It will be a high of 87 degrees on Saturday but we won't hit that temperature until late afternoon.? Our drive will depart around 10:30 and finish around 1:30 so it will be slightly cooler on the drive.? And many of the roads that we will be traveling are shady with many trees on both sides of the road.
The reservation has been made at Steel City Sports Bar & Grille.? We will be inside the building in air conditioning.? There will still be tables available if anyone wants to sit outside in the covered area.? But no air at the outside table unless you count Mother Nature.

On July 20th we will meet at the Sheetz just off the Mount Nebo exit of I79 (1910 Mount Nebo Road, Sewickley Pa 15143) at 10:00 and finish at the Steel City Sports Bar & Grille (3108 New Butler Rd, New Castle Pa 16101) at approximately 2:00. The Driver?s Meeting is at 10:15. Their website is steelcitysportsbarandgrille.com. I?m unsure of the seating arrangement as I write this as they didn?t want me to make a reservation until we are closer to the event but I?m sure they will be able to accommodate us. 
 
As the name of the event implies, anticipate plenty of curvy roads on the drive. There are several shady areas that we will be driving through so if it ends up being hot, we will have occasional relief from the hot sun. For the most part we will be on lightly traveled country roads with some transition roads to get from one fun country road to another. The route and directions are very similar to the route from 3 years ago and are fairly easy to follow.
 
With that said, I?m hoping people will step up and lead groups. You won?t get lost. I would like to keep the groups to five cars as much as possible. It?s safer and easier to keep up with only five cars to a group. But if we end up with larger groups then that is ok also. I?ve designed this run so there are very few signal lights on the course. There are also minimal left turns onto busy roads and we never directly cross a busy road. This will help to keep everyone together in the groups. I?ve had a blast driving around these country roads finding nice twisty roads.
 
So, if you like to drive a little briskly then I think you will really enjoy this run. And if you prefer a leisurely pace then you can put the top down and enjoy the scenery as most of the roads are tree lined with plenty of wildlife roaming about.

My 1977 Spitfire has a factory gas flap in the fuel inlet neck that I've
read was originally intended to help ensure the correct gas nozzle was used
for the model. Today it obstructs the new style pressure sensing fuel
nozzles from entering far enough to open the flap, and therefore spills gas
all over the rear deck. One of my two local choices for non-ethanol fuel
(Sheetz in Butler) converted to the new style recently and is a problem now.

My question is whether anyone has removed the fuel neck from a later model
Spitfire and can it be done easily and safely without removing the entire
tank? I need to get rid of this obstruction as there are fewer of the old
style fuel pump nozzles every day and I don't want to use a screw driver or
goofy funnel every time I fill the tank.

Short answer: yes
Long answer:? Do you have a Bentley repair manual?? The directions for removing the fuel cap are in the "Fuel System" section of the book.? In particular you want to look at section 19.40.19.? Honestly, I didn't know that they had done that to the filler caps but I guess that makes sense as every other car sold in the leaded vs nonleaded era had the smaller filler holes.? My 76 was probably already converted when I bought it.? You can probably get a early used filler cap from Scott Harper if you can't find one new.? I think TRF used to stock the early filler caps.? I'm not aware of any issues with converting to the early cap but, then again, I've never done it.

Hello WPTA!

My name is Jason Haney and I am a new member to the group!  Looking forward to meeting you all some day...
A couple years ago I rescued a 60 Tr3A that had been sitting for 40 years.  The last two years I have made significant progress on just getting it to a driver state with taking it around the block a couple times a few months ago. New brake system, masters, slave, lines hoses, electronics, spin filter, fuel pump, cleaned and rebuilt carbs, exhaust system, etc... and quite a bit of cosmetics and elbow grease.  My goal has been to park it with you all at the PVGP.

My last adventure around the block left me with concern around the clutch as I now need to pump it a couple times for it to disengage (if not grinding occurs and obviously will not go into gear).  I have read the blogs pertaining to setting the slave pushrod, attempted adjustment, but no luck and feel that I am missing something.

I am asking the experts out there for any type of assistance they can provide.  I live about 20 miles N. of Pittsburgh in New Sewickley Twp.  Keeping my fingers crossed that someone might be willing to do a house call (would of course pay in money or beer) to assist me in figuring this thing out...  Also if I can get the carbs tuned that would be the gravy on top!

Starting to get desperate as yet another summer is slipping away ?.
