Pretty rough for the money. Looks like rear fenders were glassed in at some point. Restoration would exceed value in my opinion. Sadly these kind of cars should end up with Scott Harper.

I saw this ad a coupe of weeks ago. He had what looked like an nos bulkhead in red primer in a crate. It would have made the deal better, but who wants to weld that part in. Not me.

On March 18th, club member Ryan Knecht has offered to open up the New Village Institute (NVI) for a tour of the technical school. NVI is located at:
500 Innovation Dr., Blairsville, PA. 15717.
The tour of the technical school is scheduled at 11 AM and will be for approximately 2 hours.

very nice car with no rust. He bought it in an estate sale in Zelienople in

These came off of a tr6 I worked on last summer. The owner bought new
wheels and tires and is looking to sell these. They?re low mileage and in
good shape. They are very wide large wheels but if you?re interested in
them let me know. The wheels workout the tires retail at $1400.  He?s
looking to get $800 obo for them. If you?re interested let me. I know he?s
motivated to sell them.

 I've had several members contact me regarding if this car was worth taking a look at.? So let me clarify.? I'm not interested in this car because it's not what I'm looking for.? But this car is in pretty good shape.? Probably priced about right but that's a decision that everyone would have to make on their own.? I would recommend that anyone looking for an early Spitfire should take a look at this car.? Tom is a good guy and is looking for a fair price for his car.? With that said, this car isn't pristine.? If it was then it would probably be more in the $10k - $15k price range.? Paint is good enough for a "driver" with a few flaws.? There is a lot of undercoating on the car as can be seen on the undersides of the bonnet and trunk lid in the pictures.? Note that the interior of the boot/trunk has also been sprayed with undercoating.? Overall the interior was in decent shape.? I think there may have been a small crack on the top dash padding.? I think there was also undercoating under the carpeting.? As far as I could tell, there was no rust on the car but it's anyone's guess on what the floors will look like under all that undercoating.? It didn't run very well when I looked at it but Tom said that was due to old gas.? He replaced the gas and said it runs fine now.??
There is a Spitfire of similar vintage in Prospect listed on Facebook right now for $7k with lots of surface rust and lines of rust holes on both floorboards near the rockers - look at the picture of the underside of the car.? Personally, if I was only going to look at one of those two cars, it would be Tom's.
Hope that helps anyone that was thinking about looking at Tom;s car.

This is a pretty easy formula: on Saturday, 25 March, show up to the Church Brew Works at noon for some lunch and sample a beer offering from one of the older craft brewers of Pittsburgh.

As usual, I?ll try to secure the area toward the back on the Bar Side.

Memorial Run ? Sunday June 4

Memorial Day, the last Monday in May, is traditionally the time when Americans visit cemeteries.  The day, Decoration Day as it was originally known, was set aside to honor members of the military who died while serving their country, but has expanded to include visits to all graves.  Along our route on June 4 we will stop briefly at two cemeteries in honor of those who went before us.  It will be held on Sunday to avoid any conflict with burial services.  Details in the May newsletter.

I'd like to find a used 4 or 4A non OD transmission to harvest some internal
parts for an OD build I'm doing. A broken or used up gearbox would be fine
as I'm pretty sure the parts I need would not be affected.

 

Anyone have an old box tucked away that you'll never need?
