The TR6 here has 16?x7? panasport wheels with bf Goodrich 225/60 R16 tires. Looking to get different wheels with a similar look. These wheels are a bit big for the current owner. Looking for a mini lite style wheel no wider than 6?s. R16 are preferred but R15 are fine also. The car currently has 3- 1/4? spacers on each wheel but the wheels rub on the upper A arm near the upper ball joint and the tire rubs on the rear. Looking for wheels and tires that won?t require spacers to use. Found 15?x5.5? mini-lites and 15?x6? panasports but wanted your opinions and to see if anything had anything used before buying new. Also if anyone is interested in the 16?x7? panasports that are currently on the car. The current owner would like to sell them. Of course this would eliminate the tube inside the shifter column so you wouldn't be able to use the switch on top of the shifter column to go in and out of overdrive. The overdrive switch is a simple on/off type of switch with two wires so you can run wires to anywhere on the dash and use any kind of toggle switch that you want to make the overdrive work.? But remember to keep the cutout switches operating properly.? They keep the overdrive from functioning in reverse 1st and 2nd. I'm guessing that your original overdrive shifter column is either broken or missing.? And you have probably already found out that they are just about impossible to find.? I don't know where all you have tried to locate one but here are a few places that may have one: Team Triumph in Warren OhioTS Import also in OhioSpitfire Graveyard in EnglandQuantum Mechanics in Connecticut I think there are links to all of these places on are website at wptriumph.org. Hope that helps and good luck. Gary On Sunday, August 7, 2022 at 11:35:42 PM EDT, del_tech--- via Wpta wrote: Hi?I?m a new member and new to the triumph cars. I found an easier way to remove the round rubber nubs that hold the bushings in place inside the column housing. Heat a 5/16" steel rod (or cut off bolt) red hot while holding it in vice grips. Plunge it into each nub and it will burn through the rubber down to the steel inner sleeve. Beats drilling them out and you will not damage the aluminum column Bill Cooper? -----Original Message----- From: Steve Lytle via Wpta To: WPTA Sent: Wed, Aug 17, 2022 1:00 pm Subject: [WPTA] steering column bearing / bushing replacement On another subject?.. Through back roads, this run will be about 60 miles long, on surprisingly smooth or recently paved two lane roads. Your tax dollars at work! We will meet at the Canonsburg Sheetz at the corner of Route 19 and Weavertown Road at 10:00. The drivers? meeting will be at 10:15. We plan to be at the restaurant between 12:30 and 1:00. You will enjoy this leisurely drive which has lots of welcome shade, a double roundabout to navigate, some cows and horses and lots of sweet corn for sale. The pit stop will be at the Get Go on Route 51, south of the Elizabeth bridge. From there we will be on the road to lunch and a cold beer of your choice. There is a full bar if wine or sasparilla is your preference. Folks that can?t make the starting point could plan to join us at the pit stop or for lunch. As usual, by 9:45 I will have a supply donut holes, birthday wishes are optional.
