[WPTA] Caution: Curves Ahead!

A quick update:  Sheetz, our meeting place, has a sign on the door stating that masks are required even if you are vaccinated.  But they don't seem to be enforcing it.  About half the customers inside weren't wearing a mask.  Anyway, remember to bring a mask, just in case.  But if you happen to forget a mask the sign on the Sheetz door also states that they will provide one.
There is no rain in tomorrows forecast.  Partly cloudy and temperatures in the high 70s maybe touching 80 for a short period.  Great day for a drive.

OnSeptember 18th we will meet at the Sheetz just off the Mount Nebo exit off I-79 (1910 Mount Nebo Road, Sewickley Pa 15143) at 10:00 and finish at the Steel City Sports Bar & Grille (3108 New Butler Rd, New Castle Pa 16101) at approximately 2:00. The Driver’s Meeting is at   10:15. Their website is steelcitysportsbarandgrille.com. We will be sitting inside to eat although there is a smaller covered outside seating area in case anyone prefers fresh air to air conditioning.

As the name of the event implies, anticipate plenty of curvy roads on the drive. Temperatures should be a little cooler by mid-September so we can anticipate nice Triumph driving weather. There are several shady areas that we will be driving through so if it does end up being hot then we will have occasional relief from the hot sun.

For the most part we will be on lightly traveled country roads with some transition roads to get from one fun country road to another. The route and directions have been prechecked

and the directions been deemed to be fairly easy to follow. With that said, I’m hoping people will step up and lead groups. You won’t get lost. I would like to keep the groups to five cars as much as possible. It’s safer and easier to keep up with only five cars to a group. But if we

end up with larger groups then that is ok also.

I’ve designed this run so there are very few signal lights on the course. There are also minimal left turns onto busy roads and we never directly cross a busy road. This will help to keep everyone together in the groups. I’ve had a blast driving around these country roads finding nice twisty roads. So, if you like to drive a little briskly then I think you will really enjoy this run. And if you prefer a leisurely pace then you can put the top down and enjoy the scenery as

most of the roads are tree lined with plenty of wildlife roaming about. See you on the 18th.
