Message-ID: <5BE8B913-624B-4221-9230-DEEB6C0E78D3@gmail.com> Hi Everyone, I have a 1980 TR7 (with no engine or trans in currently - head gasket blew in 2003 and has been sitting since) that I need some help doing an engine swap. I purchased another TR7 (running and drivable but body is toast) with a Buick 3800 v6 in it and I plan to swap it into my TR7. I am willing to pay in cash, beer and food for anyone who can come help make the swap. My dad has wanted to get this car back on the road for a long time and is now disabled and going in for open heart surgery this week. I am hoping to do the swap on the 18-19th so when recovers I can take him for a ride in it again. (We first did the restoration together when I was 8 years old) Also I think I have everything expect an engine hoist, does anyone have one I can borrow? I?ve had a few guys reach out that they can help on Sunday so I think I?ll try to organize that day and maybe a day the following weekend. I need as much technical guidance as possible. In addition to getting the engine swap done I need help making sure electrical and brakes are in working order. Depending on how many people come maybe we can divide and conquer? How have you guys run these workshops in the past? Thanks again! Happy to hop on a call tomorrow if it?s easier for you than email. Message-ID: Caution: Curves Ahead! by Gary Fredo On September 18th we will meet at the Sheetz just off the Mount Nebo exit off I-79 (1910 Mount Nebo Road, Sewickley Pa 15143) at 10:00 and finish at the Steel City Sports Bar & Grille (3108 New Butler Rd, New Castle Pa 16101) at approximately 2:00. The Driver?s Meeting is at 10:15. Their website is steelcitysportsbarandgrille.com. We will be sitting inside to eat although there is a smaller covered outside seating area in case anyone prefers fresh air to air conditioning. As the name of the event implies, anticipate plenty of curvy roads on the drive. Temperatures should be a little cooler by mid-September so we can anticipate nice Triumph driving weather. There are several shady areas that we will be driving through so if it does end up being hot then we will have occasional relief from the hot sun. For the most part we will be on lightly traveled country roads with some transition roads to get from one fun country road to another. The route and directions have been prechecked and the directions been deemed to be fairly easy to follow. With that said, I?m hoping people will step up and lead groups. You won?t get lost. I would like to keep the groups to five cars as much as possible. It?s safer and easier to keep up with only five cars to a group. But if we end up with larger groups then that is ok also. I?ve designed this run so there are very few signal lights on the course. There are also minimal left turns onto busy roads and we never directly cross a busy road. This will help to keep everyone together in the groups. I?ve had a blast driving around these country roads finding nice twisty roads. So, if you like to drive a little briskly then I think you will really enjoy this run. And if you prefer a leisurely pace then you can put the top down and enjoy the scenery as most of the roads are tree lined with plenty of wildlife roaming about. See you on the 18th. Message-ID: Hartwood Is Cancelled but the WPTA will Not Be Deterred ! Our Club Picnic has not been cancelled courtesy of George and Kathy Yonker. On Sunday September 26 we will enjoy a drive through the back roads of Washington County, put together by Bud Osbourne, ending at the Yonker Farm just outside of Hickory for our annual picnic. As usual the Pres will be grilling brauts, sausages, etc. The members are asked to bring sides, deserts, etc. Don?t forget to bring your own drinks. If you only want to attend the picnic, be at the Yonker Farm about 1 pm. Tour participants will meet just off the Bridgeville exit of I-79 in the parking lot of the First Watch Restaurant, 160 Millers Run Road, Bridgeville PA. Meet at 11 AM or come early for breakfast. The Run will end up at the Yonker Farm which is located at: 86 Baker Road McDonald Pa.15057. If it rains the picnic must go on! We will gather in the barn or machine shed area. Hope to see you here. Plan on departing from our starting point (parking lot of strip mall with First Watch restaurant (great breakfasts!), 5 Guys and a few others, at 11 AM. I just drove the route this morning and found the roads to be in very good condition, with no fresh oil & chips (not even any fairly recent oil & chips!) and only a couple of bumpy sections. So, it should be a great ride for everyone. Please keep in mind: 1. The route is quite rural, with NO gas stations of pee facilities (but PLENTY of readily available trees & bushes), so be sure to start out with a full tank and an empty bladder. 2. Although these roads are very lightly travelled, you are asked to please show some courtesy by pulling over to allow faster moving traffic (both local and other WPTA groups) to pass. 3. The parking lot, where we are starting the run from, will be fairly active on Sunday morning. So, unless you are coming early & having breakfast, plan on getting started on the run almost as soon as you arrive (maybe meet friends somewhere else, enroute to Bridgeville), rather than milling around & visiting. We can do plenty of visiting when we get to Yonkers' Farm. 4. If you want to shorten your drive/travel time, simply plug in 86 Baker Road, McDonald, PA. 15057 on your GPS or cell phone app and Bob's your uncle.
