Looking to get out of the house???  Cars & Coffee will resume at the Beach House restaurant on Monday June 8 at 9:00 am.

Just a few things:

  *   Monday is the first day they are open, so we are not positive what to expect.
  *   Per PA rules, they will be at 50% capacity -- but they never really seemed to be much more than that before.
  *   Per PA rules, you must wear a mask WHEN YOU ARE NOT SEATED.
  *   I figure worse case scenario is we get a cup of coffee to go and stand out by the cars.

My wife and I enjoyed being around Denise.  She was always positive about
her life despite the physical and emotional struggle she went through for
such a long time.  Jim and their kids gave her unending support and the
medical care she received was cutting edge.

In the current issue of the Dzus Dzuz, our esteemed president (Don) wrote about "Pop-Up Runs" that were to be scheduled in the future.

Well, the First Pop-Up Run of the driving season will occur on Saturday, June 20th.

Our destination will be to Deer Creek Winery.

Meeting Place is: Sheetz
                                249 Pittsburgh Rd.
                                Butler, Pa. 16001

Meeting time is: 10:30 AM

Yikes!  Kind of scary looking.  Although it does look like it is nicely crafted.

I remember seeing pictures of some of the ?Works? Austin-Healey rally cars and they had what must?ve been Mk I Sprite headlight fairings grafted onto the front valence.  Looked a lot better on a Works Healey than on a TR3 valence, however.

 

But, no way is it ever going to hang on my garage wall, Gary! ?

My thought is that there are far, far fewer of us with time (as in time left in life), energy and funds to take on such projects these days.  It?s going to be very interesting to see how many look at the ad, how many will watch the progress of the auction and, as Ed says, the interesting comments yet to come.

 

Still, I find myself hoping that one of ?our guys? will get them and do one last, full restoration??????.

FYI Members,

This year WPTA will be presenting the Peggy Kastner awards at Mid-Ohio 2020 
Kastner Cup. These awards are presented to the race winners within the 
various Triumph models including TR 3, 4, 250, 6, 7 and 8's as well as 
Spitfires, GT6's and any other Triumph powered race cars. Hope to have 
photos of the individual award presentation after the Kastner Cup race which 
has been rescheduled from Sunday  to Saturday afternoon.

Note the schedule change. Due to us having the Kastner Cup awards ceremony after the track goes cold so that people can hear we have decided to move the Kastner Cup race to Saturdays feature race time slot so that those of you with a long tow can head out earlier on Sunday. This is somewhat dependent on the weather also.  If it is pouring rain on Saturday and it looks like sunshine on Sunday we might switch it back. We will have to make that decision later in the week.

Paddock:  I am in the process of getting approval for a different spot. Please look at the pdf attached for the new location. This has turned out to be a record turnout for a SVRA race. Us getting any paved paddock space is looking very unlikely. This new spot is smooth high ground ( thanks much Sam Halkias for your guidance on this) and big enough for all of us to fit and big rigs should not have an issue there.  Once you arrive I am looking for you to volunteer an hour of your time Wednesday or Thursday to stand by the gate and direct the Kastner Cup folks where to go. 

Load-in: We can start entering the track at noon on Wednesday.  If I get approval on our new paddock spot we should have no problems parking no matter when you arrive. 


That's it for now. Keep your eyes on the list for any last minute changes though.

After nearly a two-month pause, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will open its gates to a limited number of spectators this weekend for the Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio.                                 TICKET INFORMATION

                                Your Vintage Grand Prix tickets will be emailed to you electronically as 'Print-At-Home' tickets. 

                                If you are having issues printing your tickets, reprints will be available at Will Call at the Gate 3 Registration Building.                                 CAMPING INFORMATION

                                ?Vintage Grand Prix campers are to enter through Gate 3 and pick up their camping passes at Will Call at the Registration Building. 

                                Registration Building hours will be 7:00AM - 9:00PM Thursday to Saturday, 7:00AM - 1:00PM Sunday. After hours Will Call will be available at Gate 3 Security Building. Campers can load-in as early as 5:00PM on Thursday. Karne and I invite those of you that are attending the Mid Ohio Vintage GP
to lunch this weekend at our trailer that will be parked under the Triumph
tree which is where the TR group first met in 1992.  It is right across
from the Triumph paddock area for the Kastner Cup.  Friday lunch will be
Isaly's BBQ chipped chop ham sandwiches and Karen's potato salad.  Saturday
lunch will be sloppy joes and a side of cucumber and tomato salad.  Bring
your mask and a chair and we can social distance and have a good time
together, weather permitting.  See you there.
