2018 Kastner Cup @ Pitt Race.
July 7th @ 3:35 BE THERE
By now, unless you’re still living in your parent’s basement, you’ve read my previous articles about the upcoming Triumph Kastner Cup on Saturday July 7th. It’s time to move out into the sunlight before Mom and Dad throw you out. Enjoy a day with your friendly Triumph owners.
WPTA members Jim Dolan and his sons have been working with the PVGP to sponsor this 16th annual event right here in our backyard. Kas and the FOT could have selected any number of venues but they didn’t and it’s an honor for WPTA to be a part of this 16-year history. So, let’s show our support. This is a Vintage event, so you won’t see any of those tuners with bean can mufflers just full-blown race cars from original Minis, Formula types, Little British Cars, Jap and German racers to ground pounder Mustangs, Corvettes and Camaros. Saturday will be topped off with the 40-minute-long all Triumph Kastner Cup feature race scheduled for 3:35 pm.
Of special note is Jim and his sons own and race the 1972 Group 44 GT6 prepared by Bob Tullius as well as the 1972 GT6 Kastner-Brophy car. Both cars are as originally raced in 1972 and beautifully maintained to period correct specs. I wonder if father or son will be the fastest, we’ll have to wait and see.
If the above isn’t enough Jim has arranged with Pitt Race for all Triumph spectators to have a special parking area adjacent to the Friends of Triumph centrally located tent where the Cup winners will be presented their awards immediately after the race.
Several WPTA Members have agreed to be Hosts on Saturday, look for their special shirts if you need any assistance parking. Everyone is welcome at the Awards Presentation under the tent.
See you there, help keep WPTA among the best Triumph Clubs in the country.
We are WPTA.
