[WPTA] The Half-Day Run reminder

The Half-Day Run On August 23rd.

Mark your calendar now for the annual Half Day run which will be in the midst of the dog days of summer.

We will gather for the start in the cooler part of the morning at 9:00 am in the parking lot at the Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin as we have done in the past.

Drivers meeting will be at 9:15 with all of us on the road shortly there after.  The run will cruise south along the rivers and hills of western Pennsylvania on a circle route that will end with lunch about noon at the South Park Clubhouse (formerly the South Park Inn).

This run will be about 75 miles with the obligatory WPA stop at the Sheetz in Monongahela so if you are joining us mid course we will be there about 10:45 for a coffee break.    (For the younger set, during the Great Depression years when everyone was poor, FDR had established a social agency called the Works Progress Administration or WPA.  The gas station attendants in those times referred to customers who stopped to use the facilities without buying any gas as  “WPA” which stood for Water, Pee and Air!)

Dust off your British car, check the oil, gas and water, grab your cell phone, AAA card, and your Significant Other and join us for a fun run and a good lunch.
