From mark at bradakis.com Fri Mar 9 07:42:27 2012 From: mark at bradakis.com (Mark J Bradakis) Date: Fri, 9 Mar 2012 07:42:27 -0700 (MST) Subject: [Vintage-race] Ashes to ashes, dust to dust Message-ID: <20120309144227.D73352E0C0@bradakis.com> Team.Net has been around a while. People join, people leave, an ebb and flow of enthusiasts over the years. Some leave a mark that will not be soon forgotten. Steve Laifman passed away, a stalwart on the Tigers list. We had Fred Thomas on Triumphs, Frank on Spridgets. Uncle Jack was a stalwart on the vintage racing scene with his immaculately prepared Triumphs. As I've mentioned before one of my least favorite tasks is removing someone from the lists as they depart. I want to add them back. I want to keep them alive in our hearts, in our minds, in our web browsers. We, as a community of kindred spirits need to show our respect, admiration and appreciation. Team.Net is currently in a bit of disarray as I work on updating, upgrading and unfortunetly upending various services. In the midst of this cloud of digital dust a new project comes to mind - a memorial page. A place to gather stories, pictures, quips and quotes about those who have touched us all. Stay tuned, there will be requests for stuff to fill these soon to be created web pages. mjb. If we can't cobble it for the endurance run north, I'll rent a simple, open U-Haul car hauler here in Lansing, Michigan and drive it empty down to Daytona Beach, Florida behind an open pickup truck in the first week of May. So, I potentially have the ability to transport a compact sized vehicle on trailer, plus any heavy bits that might go in the pickup bed. I may be able to bring some bulky items back along the same route. Pricing will be very reasonable as all I'd like to do is help folks out and recoup some fuel expense. Think about it, and when I post for certain that the trip is ON, PLEASE email johnd at simplesevens.org as those are the only emails I will receive until after Easter. For those of you who know me, yes, it's the car belonging to my son Austin, who is okay after the accident, and who was recently accepted for a summer internship at Lotus Engineering in Ann Arbor, Michigan (he's in his third year at Embry Riddle University studying High Performance Vehicle Dynamics and Clean Energy -- yes, I'm one proud father :-) Cheers, jd
