From mark at bradakis.com Fri Jun 8 16:00:03 2012 From: mark at bradakis.com (Mark J Bradakis) Date: Fri, 08 Jun 2012 16:00:03 -0600 Subject: [Vintage-race] Sheesh! Message-ID: <4FD275E3.60203@bradakis.com> I know this is not within the usual scope of discussion for this list, please bear with me. Go to http://www.ebay.com/drive-away-cancer - some of you may recognize that fellow behind the wheel. Scroll down and read about the incident that occurred this afternoon near Birmingham, Alabama. I was just planning on sending out the info about the "unpleasant man" insisting on getting his $55 parking "fine" but I've been thinking about it. That guy basically stole $55 from sick kids in the hospital. That is a BAD thing, if you ask me. John is doing a GOOD thing. And those who do good things should be rewarded tenfold. So to that end I am going to challenge all of us on Team.Net to come up with $550 to give to him. If you are of like mind, and use Paypal, the address is grace at autox.team.net. If you want to send a check, payable to Team.Net, send it to: Team Net PO Box 58333 Salt Lake City, UT 84158. Make sure you tag the funds as being for John, I don't want to steal $55 from him thinking the money was meant for the Fat Chance Garage Tool and Beverage fund - I'm not a godless, greed driven scumbag! mjb. As per normal for this race weekend we will keep you busy for the whole weekend. If you signed up for test and tune on Friday that is like 6 sessions! Then we have a great trackside reception. Saturday you have a quick practice and then a qualifier and then two races and on Sunday two more races! As always we are doing our charity rides - Candy's Rides - and there will be something special going on for the drivers who bring out their cars. We have a Spridget only race - Donna Mae Mims Memorial Marque of the year race MG A match race - or perhaps grudge race - some S2's going nose to nose with some FF Our FF & CF only race - I understand Chris Shoemaker and Royale cars will be doing the trophies for that race Saturday's party at the track is not to be missed I understand we have various racers who get challenged by their crew and are taken out to the Kart track so the crew chief can show them it is about how they drive, not how he has the car set up! Flashlight drags on Saturday eve. Yes, well The most laid back race you will do with tons of track time, stewards and workers that have more combined time doing this stuff than most anywhere you may ever race and I do not care if you tell me you just got back from LeMans! And the real kicker - you help us to raise money for people who need our help so much. With your help we will most likely hit the 4 million dollar mark this year and that is not monies raised as most places talk about - that is money handed over to the charities. With your help families get to be families and their loved ones get a lot more from life than they would have without YOU. And yes it does not hurt that your entry fee is tax deductible - but I know for me and for my wife Candy, yes the woman the rides are named for, it was never about the number we put on our tax form - nope it was about the kid going down the track in a race car - singing and rocking the faster he went - That is what is all about - me seeing that kid's grin and his parents smiles! Hope to see you at the track - I can even say I will buy you a beer (comes with the reception and dinner (o: Ralph Steinberg Director of competition PVGP Historic Races
