Mid Ohio is one of my favorites :-) "Hello John, I am hoping that you will help me get the word out to Lotus 7 enthusiasts regarding a special feature race organized by the US historic race group - Sport car Vintage Racing Associations (SVRA) to be held June 24-26 2011 at the Mid Ohio race circuit. My plan is to arrange a special features race of which the grid is comprised of the small-specialty English car manufacturers, such marques as Turner, Morgan, Lotus, TVR, Elva, Tornado, Ginetta and Fairthorpe . In addition to the mentioned Specialty car race, the standard full schedule of SVRA race group sprint races will be taking place throughout the weekend. All in all a very pleasant race outing can be expected for all. If you will be so kind to spread the word via your fine website/register to fellow Lotus 7 racers and owners so they can consider adding this unique event to their 2011 race schedules it is greatly appreciated and will certainly help make the even an success for all fans of these fine sport cars. Of course owners of road going examples are also encouraged to support their marque by attending the SVRAbs Mid Ohio race weekend. If you personally know Lotus 7 racers that may be interested in this Specials race, please forward them my note directly and ask them to contact me. We are also encouraging Lotus Elite owners to bring out their cars to join in the fun, so if you have access to Elite owners, please forward to them. With best regards, John Ruth JDRuth at att.net" If you're a Seven or Elite racer, please do contact him! Stay tuned for more info as the event nears! (I do expect to have my &*#$#@ together by then! I purchased this car from Tom Colby out at Speedwell Engineering about 10 years ago. This is a California car, never wrecked and never rusted. It was vintage raced out on the West Coast. The car has a Speedwell Monza bonnet with alloy shrouding to the radiator. It has an extremely well crafted roll bar, with side intrusion bars, but still can fit a soft or hard top to the car. It is, for the most part, street legal, although wipers will need to be fitted to the car. It has a Fuel Safe cell built into a stock Sprite tank in the original location. It has a central fire extinguisher system installed. The car sits on Panasport wheels. It needs new tires, and they are included with the sale. It has a Mota Lita steering wheel. A soft top and side curtains are included. A very solid, restorable Bugeye bonnet is included with the car. A factory hard top is also offered for an additional cost. Current motor is a fresh 948, with flat top piston, a 295 casting head, and a BMC factory "649" cam, with a cast header, with the exhaust tucked up in the pan, exiting through a Super Trap muffler. The car is priced to sell. At that time it had highly modified motor and a very good driver (currently kicking VARA ass in a Colby-built Spridget), but as I recall it's a very well prepared chassis that handles well and can manage a lot more power. With this being the last Saturday before Christmas many of you might have regulated the 2001 racing season to the back part of your brain. Others may be staring forlornly at your race care and counting the days as you hide out in the garage to escape this holiday madness and others are staring at the 50,000 bits and pieces that they are swearing will be a new race car by this coming season and have left indexed and clearly marked gift lists full of "new Hans Device. Nomex Suit, Helmet, New Tires. in all the appropriate places - (hate to tell you this but get ready for a pair of socks and new underwear) But for those of you who are dreaming of the smell of race fuel and the sounds of engines howling let me get you thinking on this The PVGP/VRG Historic Races at BeaveRun July 15, 16, 17 2011. As you all know by now there have been major shake ups in the PVGP organization and you ought to go check it out but for now stay with me on BeaveRun. We have entry forms up (huge discounts for a dual event early entry) I even have the schedule up for BeaveRun 2011 along with special info on a Special Spridget Race. So check it out and stop back often as I will be filling in groups and adding more info shortly. Check out the PVGP site too for new info on all they are doing (the schedule they have up for Beaver is last year's and so are the groups) That information will most likely show on my site first and then be on theirs soon after. But you still need to check out their site! So go to www.cloverleaf-auto.com and click the vintage race button and then BeaveRun and lastly the BeaveRun 2011 link for all of the latest news and information on this great race for a great charity Thanks and Happy Holidays and a Safe New Year Ralph Steinberg PVGP Director of Competition BeaveRun From sevenamerica at yahoo.com Mon Dec 27 07:31:18 2010 From: sevenamerica at yahoo.com (John Donohoe) Date: Mon, 27 Dec 2010 06:31:18 -0800 (PST) Subject: [Vintage-race] SimpleSevens Major reworking and offer Message-ID: <545130.32489.qm@web110703.mail.gq1.yahoo.com> The month of January will bring major changes to SimpleSevens. The site may be temporarily 'down' as hosting and email services are moved. My intention is that by the end of January, I'll begin building content back up car by car, story by story, bit by bit. I'll be posting new information along with recalling the old history, technical info and your stories as well. THE OFFER: In the meantime, if anyone would like a complete, current version of SimpleSevens on CD ROM, please contact me and I'll send you a copy. The CD will simply be a duplicate of what is available online. It will include content that is actually no longer linked from SimpleSevens, so it's a treasure trove of info that you probably have never seen, including the entire 'Details' directory. With the amount of content there I can't really 'optimize' it for running perfectly on the CD, but you'll be able to navigate the disc for the most part like the web site -- and you'll also need to go right through the file directory to find the treasures that are no longer linked in the main site... I guarantee that you can spend many, many hours reviewing the material and that you'll find things that you never knew were on SimpleSevens, or had forgotten as this does include content that has been posted over a ten year span -- there is actually over 500 megabytes of data in all! I offer this for two reasons: 1. as something to keep you occupied while the web site is down, and 2. to raise a bit of funding to offset cost of some additional software and hardware I'll be using to maintain the site. A copy of the site will be $40 shipped in the USA, or $45 shipped outside of USA. For anyone who prefers, I can put the data onto a USB FLASH drive for an additional $5. Payment can be through paypal (to johnd at ciesadesign.com) or any manner of US funds. Depending on demand, please allow me a week or two to ship. Cheers, John Donohoe SimpleSevens.org PS. Please be assured that your payment is to cover the cost of preparing and copying the files and the navigation structure of the web site -- you are NOT buying the rights to redistribute the material -- all material remains the sole property those who originally provided it to me for public presentation on SimpleSevens.
