Hi Spridget fans ~
I am looking for suggestions as to what to do with the Spridget that I
raced with the Wash., DC Region of SCCA for 5 years from 1995 - 1999.
It was a reasonably successful car with all of the go fast goodies of
the period. As presently configured there is no way this car would be
eligible for vintage racing, and there are not enough SCCA events within
a reasonable proximity of Denver that I could race SCCA as well as
vintage, which is my real preference. The 1,275 cc engine was built by
Dave Taber Jr., and was dyno'ed at about 130 - 135 h.p. It has a
Richmond Instruments gearbox, and all of the other "right stuff" from
the late 90's. What makes it ineligible for vintage is the suspension
with coil-overs on all four corners and the fiberglass front body clip
and rear deck lid and flared fenders which are attached with Dzus
fasteners.
Does someone out there have a decent Spridget body shell or roller that
could be mated with this car to make a good vintage racecar? Is anyone
with a spridget hangar queen interested in a sort of joint venture in
making one good vintage racecar out of two semi useless ones? I have
too much love and respect for old racecars to simply part it out and
give the remains a decent burial. There is a picture of the car on
http://www.mgcars.org.uk/pics/sprite44.jpg. Additional pictures and
details are available by contacting me off list.
Thanks,
