While I have felt the same initial reaction when Jehova’s Witnesses come to my house, I think we can act with respect. These young people are generally between 18-21 years old and gave up 2 years of their lives at their own expense (or that of their family) to try to share the joy the feel in Jesus Christ and invite others to feel that joy. They come from all over the world, there are actually more members outside of the US than inside, but people from other countries are often sent where their language skills are most needed. You may not agree with them and they may not always act socially or emotionally mature….because they are not mature. But I hope we can all agree that this type of selfless service in young people is something the world could use more of. Generally speaking they will be happy to come back another time if you are busy, or if you genuinely can’t spare a few minutes or aren’t curious just let them know that you would like them to leave.
