Hi, Keith,

An interesting query appropriate to the day. Only this afternoon, I was driving two grandsons (in teens) and with a same age friend home from school. On the way and stuck in traffic, I was asked if I thought smartphone technology was advantageous to my lifestyle.
I said it wasnt, explaining I only use my phone to make and receive the occasional call or to send/receive the even more occasional text. I dont use it for anything else and when using my mobility scooter in populated areas I tend to not avoid those who
cant walk anywhere unless theyre glued to a handheld screen and oblivious to everything surrounding them. So I just drive at them because the scooter has outstanding brakes. Twenty plus years ago, I refused to allow my company provided car to be fitted with
a car phone because driving in this overcrowded island then demanded total attention at all times. Its even worse now. My boss and his boss were of the same view so I was protected from those who held divergent opinions. Some years later, i had a colleague
who never answered his employer provided smartphone if he was driving and would throw it out of the window whenever it rang. He got through a lot of phones in the course of a year until it was decided to give him a telephone credit card instead.
But Im not totally resistant to technology and spend a lot of time writing on my laptop. In fact, Ive got my second Life at Triumph book almost ready for publication but I just cant get my head around the technology provided by Amazon and Kindle. Each time
I try, everything goes tits up and I manage to blow a memory somewhere.
Perhaps little Poppy, my three year old grand-daughter could help there? Most kids of almost any age have forgotten more than Ive ever learned on the cyber tech front so maybe Ill ask Poppy for her help?

Cheers, John
be going there again. This list may not be as heavily trafficked as it was 20 plus years ago but I still prefer it to other web based alternatives that are clunky to navigate and generally rather boring.
